Henderson Behavioral Health Receives Grant from Paul Palank Memorial Foundation to Support Abused & Neglected Youth

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (July 28, 2011) – Henderson Behavioral Health (HBH), South Florida’s oldest and largest not-for-
profit behavioral healthcare system, was awarded a $50,000 grant from the Paul Palank Memorial Foundation.

This generous funding will be used to benefit youth who live in Henderson’s group homes, children in foster care and children
living with their families who have been or are at risk of being abused and/or neglected.  It will help these youth in meeting their
individualized treatment goals and enhancing their quality of life.  The grant will be used to engage the youth in activities that
peers of their same age, sex and race are typically involved in.  For example, pro-social activities such as karate, music lessons,
and organized sports teams.  Funding will also be used so they can participate in normal hallmark school functions like:
purchasing school pictures, attending field trips, buying yearbooks, attending prom and graduation celebrations.  In addition,
funds are used to provide emergency financial assistance to youth and families that are experiencing the threat of foreclosure,
eviction, and/or termination of utilities.  Pressures of this type often contributes toward child abuse.

“This funding is so important and fills a large gap, so our kids can get the support they need to be successful,” stated
Henderson Behavioral Health CEO, Dr. Steven Ronik.  A check presentation was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 28th at
Henderson’s Administrative Offices in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida.

The Paul Palank Memorial Foundation helps assure the safety and protection of abused, neglected and abandoned children in
the Broward and Miami-Dade communities.  The Foundation funds organizations that offer effective, long-term and creative
solutions that address the immediate needs of children in crisis.
